David O. Russell-James Caan Star In “Cookiegate”

It looks like we finally have a reason for the latest David O. Russell meltdown: a cookie. According to Hollywood Reporter, Russell wanted James Caan to cough and choke on a cookie. Caan told Russell that you can’t cough and choke at the same time (which is true). Russell said they would film it both ways and he would consider Caan’s suggestion. Caan didn’t dig that explanation so he choked Russell and screamed, “NOW YOU COUGH YOU MUTHERF**KIN’ SONOFABITCH!!” Actually, that didn’t happen. Caan just decided to bail on the production after that.
Anybody believe this story? I sure don’t. Russell probably grabbed poor Jimmy Caan and tried to shove some Chips Ahoy down his throat. Even if this story is true, I don’t see the big deal about Caan bailing over a cookie. I had a girlfriend once who ate the last cookie in my apartment and I dumped her flat. Cookies are serious, serious business.
