Spielberg To Start On “Lincoln” In 2009…Honest!

The folks over at JoBlo.com are reporting that Steven Spielberg is going to start filming his long proposed biopic, “Lincoln”, in 2009. They are getting their information from a German article using Google Translator so it’s a bit confusing.

“Lincoln” is, of course, about Abraham Lincoln. In some really inspired casting, Liam Neeson has been picked to play Lincoln. There hasn’t been a movie I have seen with Neeson in it since that news was released that I don’t see him as Lincoln. It’s really a brilliant choice.

Sufjan Stevens found a way to rhyme the word “emancipator” in the song “Decatur, or, Round Of Applause For Your Stepmother” while referencing Lincoln. I wonder if Spielberg will put Sufjan’s song in the movie?

  • I suppose if I had suggested Liam Neeson Day, you’d all be patting me on the back.

  • It’s too soon for a Lincoln movie.
The tragedy is too fresh. I won’t be able to handle it! Too sad!

    bahdumbum…

  • Adam – Was that one of George’s suggestions for Yankee promotions?

Jen – Yes, it is too soon for a movie about Lincoln. Wait…what about “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure”? Lincoln was in that one.

We know it’s not too soon for Oliver Stone to make a movie about a President who is still President?!?!

  • Indeed.

I’m still waiting for a biopic of Calvin Butch Coolidge.
