The folks over at JoBlo have a new “redband” trailer for the Will Ferrell-John C. Reilly comedy “Step Brothers”. The first trailer made the movie appear to be a safe PG-13 comedy a la “Anchorman” or “Talladega Nights”. Apparently, that is not the case. Let me stress that again: This is so not a PG-13 movie. At one point, Mary Steenburgen drops an f-bomb. Mathematically, for every one Steenburgen f-bomb, Ferrell and Reilly will each drop 38 of them. It’s science.
The box office failure of “Semi Pro” ($33 million in the U.S.) showed maybe a little bit of tarnish on the comic gold of Will Ferrell. People may indeed be tiring of him. I didn’t really dig “Semi Pro” that much either…but I will be there on Day One for “Step Brothers”. Why? Because I am a slave to the machine that is Will Ferrell.
