Told You So: Phoenix Is Pulling A Kaufman
When I first saw the clips of Joaquin Phoenix’s rap performance, I and many other people assumed that all of this nonsense about him quitting acting and going into music was just a big hoax. There is no way he was going to quit a promising acting career and go into the rap music world. No freaking way.
Entertainment Weakly has a story that claims the hoax rumor is indeed true. An unnamed source is claiming that Phoenix told them “It’s a put-on. I’m going to pretend to have a meltdown and change careers, and Casey (Affleck) is going to film it”. If this is true…it’s awesome. He would be mocking all the pretentious self-important actors that go into music (I’m looking at you Jamie Foxx!). If it’s real…well…it’s not good and Phoenix is nuts like the rest of them.
