So Conan’s “Tonight Show” Debut Seemed Like Conan’s Old Show…What Did You Expect?

So far, I’ve read numerous reports regarding “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien” that mention how similar it was to “Late Night With Conan O’Brien”. What the hell is wrong with these people? Did you expect him to come out and be somebody else? Conan doesn’t strike me as a guy that is going to change it up that much simply because his show is one hour earlier. Of course, Letterman did get a bit weaker when he moved up an hour…

I didn’t watch the entire show last night, but I did watch the first twenty minutes or so. Personally, I loved the recorded opening of Conan running across the country. While it wasn’t laugh out loud hysterical (other than the porcelain doll bit, genius), it was very slick and a great way to introduce goofy, awkward, self-depreciating Conan as the host. To be honest, after watching it again this morning, I was struck by how beautifully shot the bit was.
