Sean Connery Turned Down 400 Million Dollars

That’s not really fair. It’s not like Sean Connery could have known that the “Lord Of The Rings” film trilogy would go on to make enough money to run South America for the next twenty years. Unfortunately for him, he turned down the role of Gandalf and instead, Ian McKellan made out like a bandit. He even got an Academy Award nomination for it.

Connery’s decision isn’t the worst rejection ever though. According to this list of movie mistakes, Steve McQueen not only turned down the role of Sundance in “Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid” (thank goodness!), he turned down Popeye Doyle and Ben Willard from “Apocalypse Now”.

Cinematically Correct note: How the hell did Martin Sheen not get a Best Actor nomination for “Apocalypse Now”? Travesty.
