Weinstein’s Will Not Get On “The Road” Again Until 2009

“The Road” has gone from a sure-fire 2008 Best Picture contender, shelved until 2009, put back in the 2008 release calender, and now, it officially has been bumped until 2009. As a fan of post-apocalyptic Cormac McCarthy novels (seriously, who isn’t?), this is upsetting news. It will be even more unsettling if I find out that Viggo Mortensen fights a guy bare-ass naked in it as Viggo is the greatest nude fighter of our time.

As Nick asks on Fataculture, does this mean that Harvey Weinstein and his cronies don’t think “The Road” is Oscar worthy? Nobody, and I mean nobody, can whore out a movie come Oscar time like the Weinstein Brothers. They made “Shakespeare In Love” seem like “Gone With The Wind” for crying out loud. If anything, this is a serious bummer for Mortensen since his “The Road” performance was said to be Best Actor worthy.

Cinematically Correct note: It’s only a matter of time before Viggo has a Best Actor statue.
