Terrence Howard Thought “Iron Man 2” Was Dead Anyway

Last week, it was reported that Terrence Howard was not going to appear in “Iron Man 2” and reprise his role as James Rhodes. On Friday, Entertainment Weakly spilled the beans on why Howard was really relieved of the role.

First, the article lets us all know that Howard was the highest paid actor in “Iron Man”. I can only compare this to the Yankees giving Jason Giambi $18 million a year to bat sixth. He was apparently the first person cast in the movie and his deal could not be re-worked after bigger stars like Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jeff Bridges were brought in. Second, the word is that Jon Favreau didn’t really like Howard that much. Favreau seems like a pretty damn nice guy so that doesn’t say much for Howard.

All in all, it’s a huge career dip for Terrence Howard. He is a fine actor and many people don’t know who he is. This role should have been the part that got him in front of millions of people and put millions of dollars in his wallet. Now, we get Don Cheadle as Rhodey…which is totally fine with me.
