“The Office” Additions & Subtractions

The first of two pieces of office news has to do with Melora Hardin. Hardin plays Jan (the enhanced ex-girlfriend of Steve Carell’s Michael Scott) and it appears we will be seeing less of her in the remainder of the season. Hardin has scored a very big role in the latest Broadway adaptation of “Chicago”, as she will be playing Roxie Hart. That’s definitely a big step up in the world for Hardin, who was pretty damn funny on “The Office”.

Ever since B.J. Novak scored a role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds”, I wondered what his status on “The Office” was going to be. Well, now we know. Novak is officially taking a leave of absence from “The Office” in order to film his role in the Tarantino war movie. The story also sources an NBC mole that says Novak will probably continue to write for the show, but his days of playing Ryan are probably over.
