Ridley Scott Really, Really Is Going To Make This Robin Hood Movie

It is still really hard for me to believe, but Ridley Scott really is going to make this “Robin Hood” movie. It was going to be called “Nottingham”, which would have been a better title if you ask me. It was first rumored that Russell Crowe would be playing Robin Hood, but the story was flipped on its ear and Robin Hood was actually the villain. How would that have worked out? Epic fail. Then, the rumor was that Crowe would be playing the hero, Robin Hood, and the villain, the Sheriff of Nottingham. Bad idea as well. Now, the movie will be called “Robin Hood” and Crowe is the star, playing yet another film version of the good thief.

Today, according to The Hollywood Reporter, three more actors have been cast. Scott Grimes (from “ER”) will be playing Will Scarlett, Alan Doyle (an Irish folk singer?) is playing Alan a Dayle, and Kevin Durand was cast as Little John. Of course, Durand was Keamy on “Lost”…which leads me to this:

Actually, Alan Doyle made a reference this week to “the as yet untitled Robin Hood film.” I really doubt the final title would simply be ROBIN HOOD. I hope not. Also hope, now that I think of it, that they don’t do something like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
I’d rather they had an entirely different sorta sorta. Who knows, mayhap they shall even return to Nottingham, which I liked.

And both Grimes and Durand were with Russ in Mystery, Alaska and Durand was in Yuma. Doyle and Russ write songs together.
