It’s Time To Play America’s Favorite Game, “Did Your TV Show Live To See Fall 2009?”

This is America and America loves to gamble. You can go to Biloxi, Mississippi and gamble for crying out loud. So, why not take this country’s long tradition of gambling and combine it with TV watching?

USA Today has a list of shows that are renewed, on the bubble, or canceled for the 2009 Fall schedule. The list is sparse, which makes me question what the hell these networks are showing at night. ABC only has six shows that are renewed or will be renewed? So, what else do they show? Oh that’s right…reality TV. This list only shows us the shows that require writing, acting, and general overall skill.

  • “Samantha Who?”, 20-1. The critics dig it and everyone loves Christina Applegate. It has a shot…oh, screw that, keep the show on just based on Applegate’s hotness alone.
  • “Scrubs”, 50-1. Now that the “talent” of Zach Braff is gone, does this show have a chance? Let’s hope not…it got very unfunny after year three or so.
  • “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, 100-1. This one is deader than Arnold’s T-1000 from “Terminator”. The minute it was switched to Friday meant that somebody finally killed John Connor or Sarah Connor or that guy from “90210”.
  • “Dollhouse”, 1,000-1. Hmm…Eliza Dushku…maybe it has a shot. Wait, what’s that? It was made by Joss Whedon, thus only created for the handful of folks who love “The Astonishing X-Men” comic? See ya.
  • “My Name Is Earl”, 10-1. Of all the shows on the bubble, I think this one has the best shot at surviving. It’s viewers have dwindled (me included) but there seems to be enough going for it for one more season. God knows it’s better than “Kath & Kim”, a television crotch kick 30 minutes at a time.
  • “Chuck”, 15-1. It seems like an expensive show to create and NBC has better things to do with their cash these days…like Keith Olbermann’s hair or Rachel Maddow’s meteoric rise to stardom.
  • “Parks And Recreation”, 10-1. Please NBC…cancel this piece of junk, rip-off, scam of “The Office” before it actually embarrasses the best thing that you have…which is “The Office”.
  • “Heroes”….wait, it’s already renewed? Dammit.

I’d like to see Kings survive another year, but that seems unlikely.
