Wilco (The First Album)

Not the best Wilco album...but maybe my favorite.

Not the best Wilco album...but maybe my favorite.

As Wilco fans know, the band’s next album is titled “Wilco (The Album)” and the first song is “Wilco (The Song)”. It seems arrogant or egotistical…but it’s really not. It’s a very tongue in cheek idea and quite funny. Today’s Album of the Day is the first Wilco record “A.M.”.

For some, this album is considered the least accomplished of all the Wilco releases. That may be true…but it also may be my favorite Wilco album. The main reason is that it has my favorite Wilco song ever, “Casino Queen”, on it. Having seen the band three times now, I eagerly anticipate the day that they bust out this tune live. I will have a serious dork freak out moment.

Best tracks: “Casino Queen”, “Box Full of Letters”, “It’s Just That Simple”, “Too Far Apart”
