Has Jason Schwartzman Infiltrated The Apatow Gang?

I Tried Out For The Max Fischer Players & Was Cut

Hot on the heels of their successful comedic pairing in “Funny People”, Jason Schwartzman and Jonah Hill are now being joined by Jason Segel in “The Adventurer’s Handbook”. This begs the question…has Schwartzman been given the Secret Apatow Handshake? He did the music for “Funny People”, had a few songs from his band Cocunut Records show up in the movie, now he’s co-starring with two Apatow regulars? If he’s in the Apatow Club, that puts him in that one and the Wes Anderson Players. To top it off, he’s got an HBO show on the way…Max Fischer is all grows up.

This “The Adventurer’s Handbook” does sound like an interesting movie. Segel, Hill, and Schwartzman will play three of four childhood friends that realize their lives aren’t what they had hoped for and they set out on a global tour. Think “Wild Hogs” with funnier actors…except for Willam H. Macy. You rule Bill!

Cinematically Correct note: Actually, don’t think about “Wild Hogs”. Ever.

Yes, it’s best not to remind oneself about “Wild Hogs.” Just remember how great Macy was.

I tend to think of Jason Schwartzman as that guy in high school who could hang with any clique but not belong to any. He’s got loads of talent (including music — he did the music for “Funny People” and contributed to a song on She & Him’s “Volume One”) and he’s very versatile.
